Hi, my name is Isabel van de Stadt and I’m a graphic designer experimenting within a wide range of mediums and materials—including ceramics, photography, moving image and bookmaking. I like to work with a hands-on approach and an open mind. My work reflects my curiosity for themes like craftsmanship, physics, perception, and form. Currently I’m in my fourth year of the bachelor Graphic Design at ArtEZ Arnhem.

Made with Love: Slowing Down Fast Fashion
Patchwork t-shirt, 2023

What does it mean to make something with love? Are the clothes I wear made with love? Who made them and under what conditions? These questions led me to compare the production of fast-fashion and slow-fashion.
This patchwork t-shirt is made by hand; a slow process, but voluntarily nonetheless, because I can afford to spend time on making something with love. On the contrary, the discarded fast fashion t-shirts from which this t-shirt is made were produced on a large scale, by people most probably working under bad conditions. The t-shirt serves as a critique on fast-fashion brands and as a plea for slow-fashion and the comeback of craftsmanship.
